Kakuro, KenKen and Calcudoku — deduction with arithmetic instead of plain Sudoku.
What is arithmetic-based deduction (cages and the Rule of 45)?
In Kakuro and KenKen you still reason cell by cell, but clues are sums or cage operations — not only Sudoku-style tracking. The Rule of 45 is one common shortcut: a full 1–9 set sums to 45, so a cage or region that must hold those digits leaves a known remainder. Hard part is the combination, not large arithmetic.
Logic or arithmetic
You still deduce. Kakuro vs Sudoku: partitions, not 1–9 in a box. KenKen and Calcudoku are cage ops; Calcudoku online suits a daily habit. Star Battle barely uses numbers.
Where to start
Quiet Kakuro rooms help — Kakuro Conquest is a clean example. Official KenKen has enough free grids. Killer can live here if you treat it as arithmetic, or on the variant page if you treat it as Sudoku.
What is not here
Plain Sudoku and Nonogram are elsewhere. Str8ts is better known in German; two grids teach it better than a lecture.
