Aquarium — rules and where to play

AQUARIUM · Aquarium Puzzle / Aquarium Fill

Pour water into fish tanks. Once any cell in a row holds water, the whole row does — the gravity rule makes it unusually easy to read at a glance.

Rules

  1. Within each region (tank), water fills from the bottom up and may never float.
  2. Inside a tank, if one cell of a row holds water, every cell of that row in the tank does.
  3. Numbers at the row ends and column tops count the water cells in that line.

How to start

Water always travels sideways

Inside a tank, water in one cell of a row fills every cell of that row.

Push up from the bottom

Water low in a column allows water above it, never the other way round.

Check against the line counts

When a count is met, stop; when it is zero, drain the line.

Where players get stuck

  • Letting water float — the one and only common violation.
  • Spreading water sideways beyond the tank border.
