Rules

  1. All standard Sudoku rules apply.
  2. Each of the two main diagonals also contains 1–9 exactly once.

How to start

The center cell is the key

The very middle belongs to both diagonals, so it is the most constrained cell on the board.

Diagonals add elimination power

Any cell on a diagonal carries one more constraint, so candidate lists shrink.

Scan for singles on the diagonals

When a digit has one legal spot on a diagonal, place it.

Where players get stuck

  • Remembering the diagonals but forgetting rows, columns and boxes still apply.
  • Counting parallel off-diagonals as if they were constrained too.
