Tapa — rules and where to play
TAPA · Tapa Rules / Tapa Puzzle
A clue says which runs among its eight neighbours are black. The most widely travelled of the Turkish-origin types — Nonogram-like, but with a loop-ish feel.

Rules
- A clue cell stays white; the digits describe black runs among its eight neighbours.
- Several digits mean several separate runs, each with at least one gap between.
- All black cells must be connected.
- No 2×2 block of black cells.
How to start
Clues summing to 8 settle instantly
All eight neighbours go black in one stroke.
The number of digits fixes the segmentation
Three digits means three runs, which mostly pins the gaps.
Run connectivity and the 2×2 ban together
In dense areas these two decide a cell on nearly every step.
Where players get stuck
- Forgetting the clue cell itself is always white.
- Reading the ring as four cells instead of eight and losing half the candidates.
